We have had the most fantastic weekends lately!
We took a long-long weekend over Memorial Day to spend some time in Seattle, and then drove north to catch a Ferry to Orcas Island within the San Juan Islands. Such a dreamland! Not "island-y" in my Hawaii-oriented mind but very relaxing in a way that reminded me of Lake Tahoe but much more intimate.

After spending hours of our vacation waiting for the ferry (ferries are a tricky sort of thing), we watched bald eagles soar in front of us, ate yummy-yummy food, drove to the top of the island for 360 views and hippie friend-making, hiked, poked at tide pools, considered kayaking, checked the wind, decided against kayaking, tracked down a sailboat charter, secured pizza and beer, set sail, made Boulder-San Francisco friends, and took in the wonder of all these tiny, green islands. So many of them!

The following weekend we had a friend in town. And it was sunny and warm! Hallelujah! We gave her the ultimate Portland tour which included beer, hikes, indulgent breakfast, and live music. It was so nice to share our new town with an old friend. And it was so, so nice to enjoy warm sunshine. Come on Portland, you can do it again, let the sun shine in!

And finally, we spent this past weekend in Colorado. We headed there for a Hawaii friend's wedding celebration where we met lots of wonderful people. I can't go to Colorado and not visit all my college friends so we did a whirlwind Jenni-friend tour and had an amazing time catching up and meeting babies. I also dragged Bryan to Boulder for 36 hours of a perfectly relaxing vacation. We rented bikes, hiked, relaxed, ate all my memory food from my college years, and I got sunburned (hallelujah!).

This weekend is all about hanging out at home, planting some veggies, taking the bike out for a ride (finally!), and hopefully soak up some the sun that Portland owes me.
